These two…
…they love their treats!
There’s lots of treats on the market, and generally with the quantity that we go through, prepackaged treats can be a lot easier than making my own. But I go through phases of wanting to know exactly what’s in their food – including treats.
A fellow competitive obedience classmate gave me this treat recipe the other day. It’s super easy and they boys LOVE it (they give it two paws up!).
B & B’s Tuna Treats
2 cans of tuna with broth
1 1/2 cup of whole wheat flour
1/4 cup of parmesan cheese
2 eggs
a little garlic powder
1/3 cup of peanut butter
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Line an 8 x 8 pan with parchment paper.
Place all the ingredients in the bowl of a food processor. Pulse till completely combined. It will become very gummy. My food processor got bogged down but I just kept pulsing.
With a rubber spatula, transfer to the prepared pan. I used a rubberized spatula and it didn’t stick at all. When I tried to smooth it out with my hand, I ran into trouble. You could probably smooth it if you wet your hand with water, but the rubber spatula worked just fine.
Bake for 20 minutes.
If it starts to brown, just cover with foil or parchment.
Remove and cool. Cut into one inch pieces.
Enjoy! Have your dog enjoy, that is – not you!
PS – This freezes nicely.
And, a question for you. Have you ever made homemade treats for your pet?
(Are we done here yet?)
Hopping over from the You’re Gonna Love It link party. LOVES me some dog treats….or I should say MISSY loves her some dog treats.
I hope Missy gets some homemade dog treats!!! 🙂 Thanks for the visit.
Your pups are so cute!! Looks like they loved those treats! I may have to try them for my Daisy =)

Thanks for the comment, Allison!! I just pinned your Peanut Butter Yogurt treats for the boys. They would LOVE those!!
I think I might try this. I will have to make them even smaller, since Pipsqueak is only 4 1/2 pounds.
Are they chewy or crispy when they come out?
The beauty of this recipe is you can cut them any size you want! I would say the finished product is much like a dense brownie. Chewy but not crumbly. Let me know if you make them!
bake for 350 degrees?
Sorry about that Meg! Clearly I got distracted when I wrote this. I’ve updated the post but it’s bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Thanks for pointing that out for me!
