I think it was back in October that my good friend Ramona and I started planning for the Second Annual Baby and Basset Christmas Photo Shoot (SAB&BCPS). We had so much fun with last year’s Christmas photos; we definitely had to do it again.
Ramona started to think about the backdrop, all the props, lighting, and more! And I started thinking about what everyone would wear.
Of course, Ramona’s daughter Nina needed a new dress for the occasion. We searched through the Minerva website for patterns first. We narrowed it down to two and when we couldn’t decide, we chatted with the ever helpful Vicki at Minerva and she helped us figure out which one would be amazing!
The pattern we used for this year’s Christmas dress is New Look Sewing Pattern 6277.
Then we went back to the Minerva website and started to go through fabric possibilities. When we came across this amazing fabric (Wine Georgette with Satin Frill Trim Border), we knew it had to be part of the dress!
The pattern for this dress came together in a fairly straightforward way. I had to make a few alterations to allow for this fabric, which we use for the bottom fringe.
I really love this little dress. It fit Nina just perfectly.
And I can definitely see myself making something for Nina with this pattern again. I think it would be lovely with some summery cotton prints.
The Christmas photo shoot was so much fun! We didn’t get too many photos of Nina and the boys this year, but I particularly love this special little moment with her and Buster. I always get a little teary looking at it. Yes, I’m sappy that way.
And truthfully, I don’t need a special occasion like Christmas to make this little girl a sweet little dress. Just say the word Nina, I’ll make you anything you want.
