Christmas Gift Making

Christmas gift making is in full swing over here.

Actually, I don’t have a lot of it on the go this year. We have decided to really reign in on Christmas spending and general gift giving this year. Are you finding you are doing more or less of that this year?

I’ve always preferred to focus on the little ones at Christmas anyhow.

Yes, there will be gifts, but a lot of it will be handmade.

Including this shawl… it’s for my Mom and she doesn’t follow my blog so I can share a little preview of it here.

Silk and mo hair

I picked up this little kit in Charlottetown, P.E.I. when I was there for work in August. It’s the first time I’ve ever worked with either of these fibres. Mohair is very finicky and fuzzy. I like the result of combining the two fibres together though…

Gotta keep pushing through this project, Christmas will be here before we know it and I have an epic baking weekend to make it through this coming weekend!

Are you feeling ready for Christmas? What’s on your make / to-do list still?

PS – there’s still time to make this adorable tree skirt that I did up last year.

I have mad pouches and matching tissue holders for friends. I am also putting together a sewing basket for my eldest daughter with a handmade basket, needle case, and pincushion as part of it. The colours of the shawl are beautiful. I prefer to receive handmade too. x

just got into the Christmas fabrics yesterday to make some gift bags and Christmas potholders but that’s just the beginning. I’ve got a bunch of placemats that need quilting and binding and maybe a few pillowcases. What did you ask me to make you this year, lol?
