Going back and checking out some previous photos of her makes me really wonder where the last two years have gone. I can’t believe this sweetie is two! It seems like it was not too long ago this little sweetie made her arrival into the world. I’ve posted about her quite a bit on the blog and that’s because she’s pretty special to Matt and I.
All these photos were taken by Ramona and I was so excited when she asked me to help with Nina’s Second Birthday photo shoot. As you know, I LOVE baking. I have so many memories of baking with my Mom and Grandma growing up.
Nina showed me how to properly put sprinkles on a cupcake. And we had so much fun learning to use a piping bag.
Nina is a natural in the kitchen, don’t you think?
I can’t get over how quickly Nina figured out how to roll the “dough” and decorate the cupcakes. At two, she is very thoughtful and deliberate in what she does, she’s such a delight to watch!
Nina also created a new cupcake. I think they are going to be all the rage. These are called cupcakes in a jar… hold the cupcakes! (Bonus, they are also gluten-free.)
For the shoot, I made some cupcakes and icing, and this cute little apron.
I bought this fabric when Matt and I were on our honeymoon in Hawaii last February. I love this Riley Blake baking print so much and it just fit perfectly with the theme of this shoot.
I used a children’s apron as the basic template and then added matching bias tape to finish the trim. On the bottom, the ruffle was created using a coordinating fabric cut to two times the length of the apron. I used a basting stitch at the top of the ruffle and then pulled the thread at each end to create the gathering and sewed in place. And everything was sewn with Aurifil, of course. I just love this cute little apron and it fit Nina so perfectly!
Nina, you are such a happy and sweet girl, and you just make everyone around you smile. Hope you have an amazing second birthday. And I can’t wait till we open up the Nina-Trina Bakery (funded by Uncle Matt, of course!!).
