Halloween Sewing

Just a little halloween sewing happening over here.

Traditionally I haven’t done too much in the way of decorating the house for halloween. Seems the neighbourhood kids come to trick-or-treat regardless! Which I love but… now that we have a little one of our own, I seem a little bit more invested in these seasonal events.

This was a fun little project that I did over two nights.

I found a perfect ombre batik at my local quilt shop – KTR Sewing. And it provided the basis for the rest of the design.

I found some clip art on the internet and used that to find the perfect shapes for the bat, cat and pumpkins.

Interesting aside… I didn’t have the fabric I wanted to use for the moon so I painted it! Yup! I had some acrylic paint at home and added in some fabric base to make it work properly on fabric and then let it dry overnight. I’m super happy with the end result.

I did some straight line quilting and then used the embroidery features on my Janome Skyline S9 to add the text.

Such a fun little project that is now hanging by the front door!

Do you do any Halloween sewing? Do you decorate for Halloween? What kind of decorations do you put up? And, better yet – do you dress up for Halloween?!?!
