A special little girl celebrated her 1st birthday yesterday!
It has been so much fun watching this little one grow up over the past year. It seems like not that long ago I received the phone call announcing her arrival into this world.
You might remember the cake smash sprinkle cake I posted just recently. Well, I was so honoured to have been asked to make the cupcakes for her birthday party, as well. And a special girl needs some special cupcakes, right!
Once the theme of her birthday was decided – it was time to get to work.
The birthday girl’s Mom, my very good friend Ramona (who is a fabulous photographer and also took these photos), has to avoid gluten like I do, so we decided we would do gluten-free cupcakes.
Having the high standards that I have for baking meant that these gluten-free cupcakes had to taste like “regular” cupcakes for those that don’t have to worry about being gluten-free.
Six different batches of cupcakes were baked in the last week and a half. But it was so worth it because the last batch was a real keeper! This is a recipe that is going in the books. It is so moist, and has a deep chocolate taste. I will share it later this week.
But first a few more photos of the final cupcakes.
Later this week I will also share the recipe and decorating technique for the sugar cookies. All of this was so much fun to pull together. And I was so pleased with how it looked when we set it up yesterday.
And the best part of all… Nina loved her cupcake.
She’s such a proper little girl and didn’t really dig in until she had her fork! (A lady doesn’t use her fingers, right Nina?)
Happy birthday sweet girl!
