There’s something about the linear, organized pattern of hexagons in a row. Add in some straight line quilting and you have a Type-A quilters dream.
The technique I used for making these hexagons so perfectly… hexagon… is a technique called English paper piecing. I’m over at the Minerva website sharing a little bit more about the process behind this mini quilt construction.
Have you tried English paper piecing? Straight, evenly spaced lines or random really, really free motion quilting?
Fun! I was playing with hexies this weekend too, but mine were 3/4 inch. Crazy!
Whoa! Those are really tiny, Brenda! What method did you do for basting them?
I’m loving this one Trina – so cute. I’ve been experimenting with lots of modern kinds of quilting with my walking foot as opposed to free motion. I really like the contemporary look of it and your modern take on hexies is particularly appealing!
Thanks for the feedback, Rhonda!! I need to see some photos of your quilting, I bet your work is amazing!!
