Meet the new additions! {Giveaway}

You’ll have to forgive me. I’m like a kid in a candy store right now!

On Wednesday I shared with you my Sew Excited! announcement about how over the coming weeks I will be sharing with you my Janome Shop-at-Home (SAH) experience. I’m so excited that Janome has asked me to check out their new online Canadian store – which is a fabulous new concept!

I’ll admit, I’m a huge “online” person. I’m very connected with social media (yes, I can hear some of you that know me well saying “that’s an understatement”!), and I often do a lot of online research before major purchases. Part of that is my A-type personality, part of that has to do with ease-of-use  – I don’t have a lot of free time and being able to search through information online at a time that’s convenient  to me and not necessarily “store-hours” is VERY helpful, and I am also, sometimes I just know what I want, and I want to just go ahead and order it. I can do all of that with Janome-SAH!

Why Janome?

Jamone is a name that has instant recognition and credibility among many sewists.

According to the SAH site, “Janome has been helping households around the world to Get Sewing since 1921.”

I’ll admit, my first introduction to Janome is a family connection… through my Mom. She is the one that taught me how to sew, and it was through her love of Janome that I came to know and trust their products (because I often borrowed her machine, even long after I moved out). It was also my Mom who introduced me to my local Janome dealership (just a little shout out to Quilt-as-Desired!).

I always think it’s interesting to hear about the machines other sewists are using and how they came to their particular brand! We can be very passionate and loyal about the machines we use – just like some people are to certain car manufacturers! Do you think that too? What are you using? Why that brand?

Meet the machines…

Over the next few weeks, I’m going to be sharing with you my experience with a few of the models that are available on the Janome SAH website. One thing I have to say right from the outset is that I think the machines offered on the Janome-SAH website are an exceptional value! They are also different from what you will find at your local dealerships – the machines online are only offered online.

Here’s a little preview of the line-up I’ll be getting to experience over the next few weeks! (Note: for a great overview of all the Janome-SAH machines and how they compare to one another… check out their website comparison feature!)

Janome June G1212

I see so much potential for this machine as I take it out of the box. Want to head out for an afternoon (or weekend!) of sewing with your friends. This machine is super portable coming in at 15 lbs. I may have already played with this one a bit. (I couldn’t help myself.) It’s got all the basic stitches (12 in total), and hums along like a pro! The machine is mechanical – which I love. There are no computer bits to worry about, it’s just your basic, get the job-done while looking pretty machine.

Janome Juno M1250Q

The Janome Juno M1250Q is the most advanced of the Juno’s available on the SAH website. This baby is perfect for so many things! I can’t wait to see how it does with quilting. There’s the speed control slider bar, a number of extra feet included, semi-automatic, auto declutch bobbin winding system, and even a pressure sensitive foot control (to control sewing speed).

Next steps…

I really can’t wait to play with all these lovely machines. I have some projects planned for each and every one of them over the coming weeks. If you are in the market for a new machine and would love me to test-drive one of these on your behalf – say with a project you are considering – drop me a line and I’ll see what I can do! I plan on doing everything from some home decor sewing, to apparel work, to even some heavy duty dog crate repair (yup – for real!).

Oh – AND… the best part… at the end of this project endeavour, I’m not only going to get to keep one of these machines BUT one lucky blog follower will get a Janome June G1218 OF THEIR VERY OWN! That’s right, Jamone Canada has generously offered to give away one of these lovely machines to one of you! Just follow the rafflecopter prompts below. Draw will take place on September 11, 2013! Good luck!

Lucky you! I have a Janome 6600P that I’ve had not quite a year. I’m in love with it, I don’t know how I even sewed with my other machine. I’ve only been sewing and quilting for a few years, but I know I’m always going to be a Janome girl. The G1218 looks like it would be a great travel machine! I haven’t done any workshops and such because I can’t really lug around my 6600. I would *love* to win!

I don’t live in Canada (so I’m not sure if I can enter), but the closest Janome SAH dealer is Niagara Sewing Machine Services in Niagara Falls. I really have to work hard to work sewing time in, but the best thing I can suggest is to just turn off the TV, and sew instead. Thanks for the chance!

  3. Maggie

I don’t know how to sew but my Mother does and she would love a new sewing machine and I would love to win this for her. She is a principal and does her sewing on weekends and in the summer holidays. My nearest dealer is John’s Sewing Centre – Barrie.

  4. Neusiane Silliker

Hello my name is Neuziane, I won my husband one M1250Q Janome machine, I am Brazilian, but I am currently living in Canada, and I do not know much English. If you guys know how do I get her manual in Portuguese, I will be grateful. Hugs.
