A certain little niece of mine not only just turned three but happens to be one of the biggest Minnie (and Mickey) Mouse fans around. (You may remember this from Halloween!)
When it comes to making her birthday memorable, I’m all in. And in this case, it meant getting the opportunity to make her some special cupcakes for her special day!
These adorable cupcakes were the perfect homage to Minnie without being too overdone.
It has been a while since I’ve worked with fondant but it didn’t take too long to get my fondant bows just so.
Buying fondant pre-coloured saved tons of time (and my hands) since we were dealing with intense colours like red and black (these always require a large amount of cake dye and inevitably the finished product start to take on the taste of the dye).
Cupcake liners were purchased at Michaels.
My tip to ensure these retain their true colour is to bake your cupcakes in plain cupcake liners and then either remove or place directly into the decorative liners.
All the fondant was prepared the day before so it had time to harden at room temperature.
Once the icing was piped on, the fondant decorations were put into place and voila – Minnie was in the house!
Can’t wait to start working on the cupcakes for her little sister’s birthday, which is just around the corner!
