This was really hard to finish. I don’t know what was more difficult, that the final pieces kept bringing up so many memories. Or that being done seemed so final.
I’ve been working on this for a while. It is now being done in memory of our sweet little rescue dog, Hope – who passed away on January 10 in our arms. When I started it, I dreamed it would be to raise funds to help her get better. But God had other plans for her.
It’s been a hard journey. A day hasn’t gone by that I haven’t though about her and shed a tear in her memory.
I handed this over to the Boston Terrier and Pug Rescue of Southern Manitoba on the weekend (and shed a few more tears). They will auction it off in a upcoming fundraiser. I hope to make a matching Boston Terrier mini quilt for them in the future. I’m still looking for a Boston Terrier pattern to use. If you know of somewhere to find that pattern, I’d love to hear from you!
I used up some scrappy pieces in the appliqué process. And the blue is Bella Solids by Moda. And everything was quilted/sewn with Aurifil.
Do you quilt/sew/knit/cook/craft as a cathartic process? I think working on this has helped me bring my feelings to the forefront. Which I don’t think is bad. Just hard.
I’m thankful to have the opportunity to honour her memory this way.
We miss you sweet girl.
