I admit it. When it comes to hobbies, I can be a little fickle. I kinda go from one project to the next… drawn in by the nice patterns and pretty design.
Lately I have been enamoured with sewing. I’ve been coveting a number of projects via pinterest and blogs. I even half started a quilt (and I’ve never quilted before). I love pretty colours and textures and there’s just something so satisfying about admiring a finished piece that you worked on and made yourself.
Like so many things (i.e. knitting), I’ve always just been a novice sewer. But seeing what other projects people are working on inspires me.
I love kicky fabrics and so the other night I set out to do this little project that I found here: http://patternpile.com/sewing-patterns/zipped-lined-make-up-bag-pattern-free-video-tutorial/
I use little bags for organizing anything and everything. I use it in my work bag for computer and iphone cords. In my purse for lipgloss or keys. I even have a few little bags in the console of my car. One to make sure I always have a pen and paper handy, and another for misc car cords (to connect my iphone to the stereo, or to connect it to power).
This was a really straight forward tutorial. I had never even tackled a zipper before. I had to watch it a few times to get the right-side/wrong-side of fabric issues all sorted out… but I think I did okay in the end.
I can see this becoming a bit of an obsession of mine!
