I’m so excited to finally be able to share this with you!
It’s one of several things I’ve been holding back on (sorry!).
Most of the little girl dresses I’ve been making lately have been for one adorable girl in particular. She’s the sweetie of a very good friend of mind.
I think the world of her. She’s a pretty special little girl. It’s been such a joy to be part of her life since she made her arrival and I’ve had so much fun making her all kinds of adorable little outfits.
The dress is the very versatile and beautifully crafted pattern from Made-By-Rae. I think I’m now on my sixth or seventh Geranium Dress. I love this dress so much. I’m even using it for two dresses that I’m making for a very special event in a few months.
A little while back I found this adorable fabric – Dotty Ombre in white and graphite grey, designer Vanessa Christenson for Moda. It’s a little hard to find these days but my local NorthWest/Marshall Fabrics carries some wonderful lines even after they can’t be found through other sources.
As soon as I saw it in the store, I new I wanted to make it into another dress for little Nina. As I do when I come across some cute new fabric, I messaged my friend to show her a photo. She was also inspired by the fabric and encouraged me to buy it (as she so often does) but little did I know she had a special idea in mind for the dress.
You see, my friend is the fabulous photographer at Ramona Garbald Photography. Her photography is stunning and with Father’s Day coming up she wanted to create a special memory that captures the bond between little Nina and her poppa, Chris.
Ramona posted these photos on her blog and gave me permission to also share them so I could tell you a bit about the dress.
I can’t tell you how honoured I was to have been asked to create the dress for this photoshoot. I mean, I give away a lot of the sewing and crafting (and baking, for that matter) that I have been doing recently. But it’s one thing for a person to say something nice (and polite) about something you gift them. But to be asked to make something specific for them, and for a photo shoot for that matter… I was touched.
Could you have a more perfect little dress model?
To tie (haha) it all together, Ramona requested a bow tie for Chris in matching Dotty Ombre fabric.
I think this tutorial from A Lemon Squeezy Home is my new go-to for bow-ties. It came together really nicely.
Look at those two!
What a wonderful memory of Nina and Chris while she’s at this precious age. I’m just so touched that in a very small way I got to be a part of it.
PS – Thank you so much Ramona for sharing these beautiful photos with me. Absolutely beautiful as always.
PPS – I have one more exciting thing to share with you still. I hope to be able to announce that at the beginning of next week. It’s a doozy… you really have to check back for that news!
