I visited my two sweet nieces this past weekend and brought over the supplies for a little cookie decorating project. After consuming a good amount of gummie worms and chocolate icing, we ended up with some fabulously easy and fun “worms in dirt” Halloween cookies.
- You can use almost any cookie for this project but I love to use this tried and true sugar cookie recipe.
- For the frosting, I make my favourite basic buttercream icing (1 cup butter, 4 cups icing sugar, 1/2 cup cocoa, 1 teaspoon vanilla, pinch of salt, 2 tablespoons milk).
- Dirt. Our favourite was crushed chocolate cookies but you can also use chocolate sprinkles.
- Candies. Gummie worms were essential for our project. But you can also use any other assorted Halloween candy.
Set out your supplies. Decorate. Have fun!
Are you ready for Halloween? Confession, I haven’t even bought any Halloween candy to hand out yet! Probably for the best as I would have dived into it head first already if I had it easily accessible at home.
Do you dress up for Halloween? What will you be this year?
