I’m sorry, I couldn’t resist. This hat really was a hoot to make!
This was a gift for a sweet little one’s first birthday. I knew whatever I made her had to be something special. She’s such a little cutie. And growing so fast! (*sigh*)
Her Momma (who also took these fun and adorable photos at the park earlier this week after the weather *finally* warmed up a little bit here) tells me she wears this hat all the time. That makes me smile. Just as these photos do!
I found this pattern on Ravelry. And used Malibrigo Rios for the wool which gives it such a soft and squishy feel. So warm and cozy! I purchased the wool from my local yarn shop – Wolsely Wool (they have a new website – check them out – there are some great “we have a new website” specials on right now).
This hat came together fairly quickly. I think it was the finishing details that took longer than the actual knitting. I really love the adorable little tassels and the buttons that finish off the owl face.
And most of all, I just love that this hat is keeping this little one warm through this long cold winter!
Definitely a hoot! Is that a button for a nose?
Thanks Marny for indulging in my sense of humour. 🙂 🙂
Yes – the eyes and nose are buttons. The eyes I found on easy. The nose I found at a local quilt shop. Super sweet and I thought it added a sweet little touch to finish it off.
Oh my goodness, this hat is the cutest thing! I crochet but can totally appreciate your work on this. I found you through Krafty Inspirations Link Party. I invite you to join my link party tomorrow at http://www.GoCrochetCrazy.blogspot.com
Awe! Thanks so much for your very sweet comment, Mary! 🙂
