As I’ve posted here before, I’m on the hunt for a new sewing machine. I’m looking to move up to a higher model, something with a few more options, a little quieter, a little easier to carry around… something a little more than what I have now.
I know I want new (with a warranty), but the thrifty side of me can’t help but look looking through various sites in the hopes the perfect machine might be out there through a refurbished option, or someone who just decided they wanted to give their machine a home where it will be loved and cherished (like mine!).
I’ve stopped myself numerous times from responding to anything “mediocre” (which I say for lack of a better word), i.e. something not quite what I’m looking for.
But this morning – the words “FREE sewing machine” through an online kijiji ad caught my attention. I’m a sucker for free. What’s the worst that could happen? If its not what I want, I repost it as a free item for someone else, right? So, after the basset boys had obedience this morning, I went off and picked up this!
The lady at the door said the tension didn’t work properly – but it does! The only thing I can’t figure out is the needle plate isn’t sitting properly so it’s not grabbing the fabric right. Well, it did the first time through then something joggled and now it won’t. But I’m hopefully this little baby will be a sweet “back-up” machine, or maybe a gift for a new sewer, or a travel option for classes.
Anyone out there have one of these? Any suggestions on the needle plate situation? I’d love to hear from you!
